Keep It Current

This project will involve the removal of the existing Hillside Drive culvert and the section of road from there to Cole Creek Drive to improve stream capacity and reduce flood risk to upstream properties and public rights-of-way.  Improvements to the stream will include a minor realignment of the creek along with bank stabilization measures that together will help to mitigate unsafe conditions caused by steep, eroding banks and help to protect private properties and local infrastructure. It will also include a pedestrian bridge that crosses the creek.

 

In the Spring of 2024, there were numerous intense thunderstorms that caused significant damage to the Hillside culvert and street.  The street was closed to traffic due to this damage.  In late July 2024, the City implemented temporary measures to manage runoff from Hillside Drive, stabilize the site, and remove the street until the permanent project can be completed in late 2025.
